The orange tag is to help keep a count and was applied by the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) of MN. This particular pair were released from MN zoo last year(?) and returned to nest there this Spring/Summer.

Oh, they are so sweet! When I lived on Long Island, there was one house I lived in on the edge of the wetlands. There was a swan that nested nearby each year, but I never managed to catch sight of the babies in all the 7 years or so that I lived there. Thanks, this was great!
