We had dentist appointments yesterday

We, my son and I, both had cleanings that went fairly well.

Son wasn't as depressed afterward as usual. WOO HOO!!! He's usually dreading going because they complain about his gums. He just has gums that bleed. They always, always bleed at the dentist and sometimes at home, but are basically healthy. At least this time, she didn't make him feel so bad. She suggested that part of the problem is he's a mouth breather at night which will cause dry mouth.  He doesn't have dry mouth otherwise. He brushes 2-3 times a day, flosses at least 2x's and uses Listerine. She said she can tell he's not ignoring them. He does have 2 teeny-tiny cavities that are close together. One he knew about and the other was a surprise.

I was complimented on my teeth. She remarked how easy I make her job. Boy do I have her fooled *lol* She always remarks how well I brush and floss. Not near as well as she thinks. She is always saying how quick it is to clean my teeth. Must be all the pop I drink that removes the tartar either that or she's being extra nice :) No cavities, but I do need 2 fillings to fix voids from previous fillings they did last summer. This is the 2nd time they are fixing their work. Hopefully, this is the last. Unfortunately for me that is 2 visits since they are on opposite sides. Kiddo gets off with 1 more visit.

Oh, and kiddo has 3 wisdom teeth. The dentist says that eventually they need to come out. One he can do, but the bottom ones have to be done at the oral surgeons which isn't covered by the program we are on so it's private pay. No can do at this time so they'll wait until he's got some sort of real dental insurance.

Why doesn't health care reform include dental or vision? I may not be a fan of that bill, but it *should* include those as well, imo.

Bah Humbug! (whine post)

I really don't feel like doing much of anything.  I don't want transcribe, study, read email, play on Facebook, or watch TV.  Durnblame fibro and arthritis.  I'm trying to keep functioning, but I don't wanna!  Everything hurts and aches.  It's miserable outside (nonstop fog and wet).  I just wanna crawl back into bed and forget about everything for a month or two.  Can't, but I wanna!

She returns..............

Well, I hadn't realized it had been that long since I blogged.  Life has been interesting since my last post.  I won't go into long and boring details, but will give a quick list of what has happened.

The brakes on my car were indeed fixed and paid for by the church.  It turned to be a whooping $160 rather than the projected $500 by Sears.  I knew Sears was full of it, but at the same time I was wary of how much it could be.

While the car was off being fixed, I had a nasty trip to the ER with a severely abscessed molar.  That required Mom coming home and driving me.  Poor thing didn't sleep much that night and missed work.  I ended up with a lovely prescription of Lorecet (which is hyrocodone or Dr. House's favorite drug Vicodin).  I also had an antibiotic called Clindamycin.  A week later, said tooth was pulled, and now I have an extra hole in my head.  Extra blessing is that I finally found a dentistry clinic with a sliding fee. Kiddo has an appointment for the 19th.

After the trip to the ER, I did indeed get to go to Women of Faith in St. Paul.  It was fantastic and extremely tiring since I was still fighting the tooth infection.  I absolutely love the range of topic.  I especially enjoyed listening to Patsy Clairmont and Lucy Swindoll.  Those ladies are wonderful.

I was able to hear Anita Renfroe sing her Mom Song live. If you haven't heard this, go listen now.  It's everything a mom says in one day condensed into a 3 minute song.

Also take a moment to visit this youtube video of Patsy Clairmont talking about her friend Carol who is dying of cancer.  It was mentioned at the end of WOF that she checks youtube to see how many hits her story has gotten each day.  It's a bright spot in her day. 

Luci Swindoll closed out the WOF conference and as expected she was fabulous.  She reminded us that big things happened with small steps.  

Since we arrived back from the WOF conference, our church has had a few problems in communication.  YUCK!  If you feel led, please pray for unity and healing.  We have lost two families over this.  There is still anger and hurt that needs to be dealt with properly.  Again YUCK!  I hate conflict, and I especially hate it at church.

Over the past month, I have been working on winterizing the house, garage, and yard.  It will be worth it, but right now it's tiring.  Luckily, we have all been pitching in and getting things done.  By we, I mean Mom, kiddo and I.  With any luck, we can keep our heating costs low this winter.  I am praying the new windows really help with this. 

I am still plugging along with school.  I am transcribing files now and wondering if I will ever hear every word the doctor says.  At least, I am not having nonstop headaches now that the nasty tooth is gone! 

I have new glasses.  The pair I bought 18 months ago from Wal~Mart finally bit the dust.   The left lens finally shattered when it fell out at Panda Buffet.  Thank the Lord for 39dollareyeglasses.com and having a valid prescription.  I was able to have new specs by Thursday after ordering them on Monday evening.  It only cost a $81.  It would have been around $70, but we paid for UPS overnight air shipping.   I like this new pair---even if though I am stuck with plastic lenses.  I can make due until next spring with these. I am just so grateful for modern technology and the internet.  I need my glasses!!!!

Kiddo is still the same as always.  He was FANTASTIC when I was so sick for a few days with that dumb tooth.  He has helped with the yard work (only a little complaining).  He didn't even complain when I cleaned his room without permission.  *lol*  I just did it.  I rarely mess with his domain.  He actually said he liked it later because he could see the floor.  *lol*  I mostly piled stuff up on his wardrobe and pulled out all the laundry (mostly clean) piled on the floor.  My son has a weird habit of collecting comforters & sheets in a corner of his room.  Currently, I am in the process of re-laundering them and storing them in a place where they hopefully won't get dirty again. 

Okay those are the highlights of the last few weeks.  I'll try to get back to blogging semi-regularly and posting pictures.  With any luck I will even have a SkyWatch Friday post up tomorrow :)

My knee has had it.

I have been working in the yard for several days in a row and off & on for about 3 weeks. My arthritic knees do not handle uneven turf very well, plus the 5 steps in and out of the house on top of basement stairs. Tonight my knee is giving out after 2 or 3 steps. So far it's just a dull ache with a sharp pain when it gives out. That's actually good pain which means manageable pain. No swelling yet which is also good.

I'll baby it tonight as much as possible, but I still have some outside work that has to be done tonight. I am watering the back lawn to put weed killer on and I refuse to wait another day. It's supposed to start raining tomorrow night. I have the front lawn done. YAY!

Tomorrow, I need to finish building a bench that I have started after 2 yrs of having the supplies. *lol* Today I cut the boards into 4' lengths and have assembled the proper tools. I have 2 cut of the boards a bit shorter and start the main assembly. That will require bending and kneeling on concrete. Maybe I can find an old pillow to cushion my poor knee.

OUCH !!!

I hurt in places I didn't know I had. Most of all I'm exhausted. I've been at the new store for three days now and the work is grueling. We are setting up the store. That means we are building all the shelves and other units which hold merchandise. I am in receiving...hauling out to the sales floor the material to make the shelving units. I feel almost like a mule or ox. Load up a pallet jack and start pulling. My arms and legs are aching. Last night I arrived home about 4:30 and went straight to bed. I slept until 7 and woke up afraid I had overslept. Luckily I set my alarm before I laid down...just in case.

I have to say I do like my new co-workers and managers. They are nice and easy to get along with so far. A couple of them I know from the college which is a blessing. I think I will like the job once the next five weeks are over and we are open. For now I'm just too tired to like anything. *lol*

Mom bought a car today. It's a 99 Buick Regal. I drove it a bit when she got home. I like it except for the leather seats. They are uncomfortable to me; however, she loves them which is weird as she hates leather. Oh well, she's happy with the car and that is all that matters. I'm just glad she's able to buy what she wants instead of what she can simply afford. It's about time the old lady got to do that :)

I wonder if I will have the energy to read tonight.....bet I read too late if I do.
