Random thoughts about single parenting, parenting, homeschooling, dealing with chronic illness, going back to college, working while trying to survive...just every day stuff. Just stuff that plagues me during the course of my day. Probably nothing of lasting interest to anyone but me.

One Day After Christmas
Author Unknown
It's one day after Christmas
I'm crabby and I'm broke.
I'm so full of ham and fruitcake
I think I'm gonna croak.
It's nice to see the relatives
I wonder when they'll leave.
They've been camping in my bathroom
since early Christmas Eve.
They're eating everything in sight
and sleeping in my bed.
I been sacked out in the basement
with my beagle, Fred.
The relatives have all gone out
and left their screaming brats.
The toilet bowl is all plugged up
and I can't find the cat.
It's Christmastime at my house,
the relatives are here.
They eat me out of house and home.
and drink up all my beer.
I love the decorations,
and the sleigh bells in the snow
But I wish those pesky relatives
would take their kids and go.
Those cookie crunchers fed the dog
a twenty pound rib roast.
His feet are sticking in the air
like skinny old fence posts.
Now they're in a free-for-all,
the girls against the boys.
They're fighting over boxes
'cause they're bored with all their toys
My mother-in-law is snoring
in my favorite TV chair.
Those kids are stringing lights on her
and tinseling her hair
I oughta wake her up
before the fireworks begin.
But I wanna see those blue sparks fly
when they plug her in.

A bit late, but here goes :)
THANKSGIVING TABLE PRAYER
We thank You, Lord, for harvest gifts
Bestowed upon us here;
We're thankful too for blessings sent
Each day throughout the year.
We're thankful for the Pilgrims
Who braved the perilous sea
That all may worship here today
In this land of the free.
For shelter warm and family ties,
For loved ones far and near;
We're thankful for each little child,
So special and so dear.
For daily bread in ample share
We lift our thanks to Thee;
Oh, may we share with those in need
Wherever they may be.
We're thankful for this food prepared,
Each loved one gathered here.
We're thankful for Your presence Lord;
You seem so very near.

Tina made me do it :)
Okay, my friend Tina told me to blog so here it is. If you are bored, blame Tina :)
Actually, I keep meaning to blog, but get distracted. I truly didn't mean for it to be so long between posts. I also have to update my other blog with the book study. I am very BAD about maintaining my blogs :(
Weather:
I hate the up & down of the temps. We go between 0° and 40°. We had maybe a week's worth of subzero night temps which is waaaayyyy less than normal for this time of year. Usually during Hunting Season we are in the teens with subzero's at night. This has made for a very wet fall. Which for me makes it a painful fall. Arthritis and Fibromyalgia don't like wet weather. I wish it would hurry up and get cold and stay there until Summer. *lol*
Holidays:
After listening to my friends fuss about:
Truthfully, I'm more concerned about what I'm going to get my son for his 16th birthday next month (Jan 25th). I want to do something special. He's not getting his driver's license until he's 18 so I would like to do something special. I'm stumped and would welcome any suggestions. I can't believe my baby is going to be 16. It's just hit me lately how soon he's going to be an adult. WOW!!! Where did time go!?!?

Holidays:
After listening to my friends fuss about:
- what they are buying or not buying
- what relative they are visiting or not
- to keep this tradition or start a new one
- going into debt
- to celebrate religiously or not
- gaining weight because they can't refuse holiday food
- the traffic and malls
- interfering in-laws or other relatives

He is NOT here.
Matthew 28
In the end of the sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week, came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to see the sepulcher. And, behold, there was a great earthquake: for the angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat upon it. His countenance was like lightning, and his raiment white as snow: And for fear of him the keepers did shake, and became as dead men. And the angel answered and said unto the women, Fear not ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified. He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay. And go quickly, and tell his disciples that he is risen from the dead; and, behold, he goeth before you into Galilee; there shall ye see him: lo, I have told you. And they departed quickly from the sepulcher with fear and great joy; and did run to bring his disciples word. And as they went to tell his disciples, behold, Jesus met them, saying, All hail. And they came and held him by the feet, and worshiped him. Then said Jesus unto them, Be not afraid: go tell my brethren that they go into Galilee, and there shall they see me. Now when they were going, behold, some of the watch came into the city, and showed unto the chief priests all the things that were done. And when they were assembled with the elders, and had taken counsel, they gave large money unto the soldiers, Saying, Say ye, His disciples came by night, and stole him away while we slept. And if this come to the governor's ears, we will persuade him, and secure you. So they took the money, and did as they were taught: and this saying is commonly reported among the Jews until this day. Then the eleven disciples went away into Galilee, into a mountain where Jesus had appointed them. And when they saw him, they worshiped him: but some doubted. And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world.
Amen.
