As I have mentioned previously in my blog, we went to the MN Zoo while on vacation this past June. I took over 2000 pictures while on vacation and have been slowly going through them. I love having a digital camera just because I can take so many and not worry about cost. All it costs me is time to sort after I'm home. Here is a small sampling from the World of Birds Show at the MN Zoo.
These are in order of the show. I've linked the pages from the show list for anyone who wants a quick primer on a particular bird. That exercise helped me remember what each one was called. As you can see through some of the pictures, I moved closer to the stage to get better pictures. If I had a camera with better zoom, I could have stayed in the cool shade up at the top of the seating area. Obviously close-ups became more important than comfort that hot summer day.

As usual you can click on a picture to enlarge it. I hope you enjoy the pictures.
I missed the doves flying around the arena at the very beginning as we arrived just as the show was starting.
Ducks....
Rose-breasted Cockatoo
I am a definite fan of the World of Birds Show and the MN Zoo. It was well worth the money and time. I think I may try for a cooler day next time. That day was boiling.

Melinda, the sulphur crested cockatoo is one of my favourite birds. I saw a flock of about 40 today. Each time I see them (almost daily) I am reminded that God has a sense of humour!
Wendy, you are blessed to see those. At the show they had it dancing to the music. It was beautiful and funny at the same time. If you ever get any pictures I would love to see them.
Thanks for visiting.
what a beautiful display of birds! i suppose i would love the show ;)
Oh! If I ever get to MN I am so going to the zoo! This is great.
Speaking of great photos, Alice is starting a new week-long photo challenge. I know you said you'd like to hear about one from the start -- well, hers starts mid-night tonight, PDST. If you don't already have a link to Alice's blog, you can pick her up in my comments section.
That crowned crane was absolutely stunning - what a treat to see.
juliana: The birds were fantastic. I love it more than the dolphin show which is my other favorite.
quilly: Please do go if you get a chance. The jokes are corny, but the birds more than make up for it. Thanks for letting me know about Alice's new challenge. I will head over there in a bit :)
Shelly: I found the crane amazing as well.
Thank you all for visiting and commenting
All are beautiful, but I especially love the Bald Eagle.
Wow, that crane is huge. I love the eagle pics!! Today is my first time participating too.
What an array of birds! That crested crane was quite spectacular but I was really fascinated by the albino red-tailed hawk as it is so unusual! Welcome to Camera Critters!
Wow, I'm glad you took a variety of the different birds! I enjoy seeing and putting names with the birds! Welcome to Camera Critters, thanks for sharing and look forward to your post next week!
Welcome to CC! I'm sorry I'm so late stopping by. Those are some great looking birds. Of course, my fav is the bald eagle. :D
