It's been a while since I posted a few quotes. Here are some I found today.
“Permanence, perseverance and persistence in spite of all obstacles, discouragement, and impossibilities: It is this, that in all things distinguishes the strong soul from the weak”
~ Thomas Carlyle
“Don't wait until everything is just right. It will never be perfect. There will always be challenges, obstacles and less than perfect conditions. So what. Get started now. With each step you take, you will grow stronger and stronger, more and more skilled, more and more self-confident and more and more successful.”
~ Mark Victor Hansen
“Progress, of the best kind, is comparatively slow. Great results cannot be achieved at once; and we must be satisfied to advance in life as we walk, step by step.”
~ Samuel Smiles
Random thoughts about single parenting, parenting, homeschooling, dealing with chronic illness, going back to college, working while trying to survive...just every day stuff. Just stuff that plagues me during the course of my day. Probably nothing of lasting interest to anyone but me.

Funny: You were forewarned
This came to me in an email forward today. I thought it was funny.
You were forewarned.
On the first day God created dog. God said:
"Sit all day by the door of your house and bark at anyone who comes in or walks past. I will give you a life span of twenty years."
The dog said: 'That's a long time to be barking. How about only ten years and I'll give you back the other ten?'
So God agreed.
On the second day, God created the monkey and said:
'Entertain people, do tricks, and make them laugh. For this, I'll give you a twenty-year life span.'
The monkey said: 'Monkey tricks for twenty years? That's a pretty long time to perform. How about I give you back ten like the Dog did?'
And God agreed.
On the third day, God created the cow and said:
'You must go into the field with the farmer all day long and suffer under the sun, have calves and give milk to support the farmer's family. For this, I will give you a life span of sixty
years.'
The cow said: 'That's kind of a tough life you want me to live for sixty years. How about twenty and I'll give back the other forty?'
And God agreed again.
On the fourth day, God created man and said:
'Eat, sleep, play, marry and enjoy your life. For this, I'll give you twenty years.'
But man said: 'Only twenty years? Could you possibly give me my twenty, the forty the cow gave back, the ten the monkey gave back, and the ten the dog gave back; that makes eighty, okay?'
'Okay,' said God, 'You asked for it.'
So that is why for our first twenty years we eat, sleep, play and enjoy ourselves. For the next forty years we slave in the sun to support our family. For the next ten years we do monkey tricks to entertain the grandchildren. And for the last ten years we sit on the front porch and bark at everyone.
Life has now been explained to you.
There is no need to thank me for this valuable information. I'm doing it as a public service.

God Speaking by Mandisa
A day late because yesterday was reserved for the birthday boy!
Have you ever heard a love song that
Set your spirit free
Have you ever watched a sunrise and
Felt you could not breathe
What if it's Him
What if it's God speaking
Have you ever cried a tear that
You could not explain
Have you ever met a stranger
Who already knew your name
What if it's Him
What if it's God speaking
Who knows how He'll get a hold of us
Get our attention to prove He is enough
He'll do and He'll use
Whatever He wants to
To tell us "I love you"
Have you ever lost a loved one
Who you thought should still be here
Do you know what it feels like
To be tangled up in fear
What if He's somehow involved
What if He's speaking through it all
Who knows how He'll get a hold of us
Get our attention to prove He is enough
He'll do and He'll use
Whatever He wants to
To tell us "I love you"
His ways are higher
His ways are better
Though sometimes strange
What could be stranger
Than God in a manger
Who knows how He'll get a hold of us
Get our attention to prove He is enough
Who knows how He'll get a hold of you
Get your attention to prove He is enough
He'll do and He'll use
Whatever He wants to
To tell us "I love you"
God is speaking
"I love you"
Have you ever heard a love song that
Set your spirit free

Poem
Cleaning Poem
I asked the Lord to tell me
Why my house is such a mess.
He asked if I'd been 'computering',
And I had to answer 'yes.'
He told me to get off my fanny
And tidy up the house.
And so I started cleaning up...
The smudges off my mouse.
I wiped and shined the topside.
That really did the trick...
I was just admiring my work..
I didn't mean to 'click.'
But click, I did, and oops
I found a real absorbing site.
That I got SO way into it
I was into it all night.
Nothing's changed except my mouse
It's very, very shiny.
I guess my house will stay a mess...
While I sit here on my hiney.
I asked the Lord to tell me
Why my house is such a mess.
He asked if I'd been 'computering',
And I had to answer 'yes.'
He told me to get off my fanny
And tidy up the house.
And so I started cleaning up...

Poem
MINNESOTA POEM
IT'S WINTER IN MINNESOTA
IT'S WINTER IN MINNESOTA
AND THE GENTLE BREEZES BLOW
SEVENTY MILES AN HOUR
AT THIRTY-FIVE BELOW
OH HOW I LOVE MINNESOTA
WHEN THE SNOW'S UP TO YOUR BUTT
YOU TAKE A BREATH OF WINTER AIR
AND YOUR NOSE GETS FROZEN SHUT
YES, THE WEATHER HERE IS WONDERFUL
SO I GUESS I'LL HANG AROUND
I COULD NEVER LEAVE MINNESOTA
CAUSE I'M FROZEN TO THE GROUND!!
SEVENTY MILES AN HOUR
AT THIRTY-FIVE BELOW
OH HOW I LOVE MINNESOTA
WHEN THE SNOW'S UP TO YOUR BUTT
YOU TAKE A BREATH OF WINTER AIR
AND YOUR NOSE GETS FROZEN SHUT
YES, THE WEATHER HERE IS WONDERFUL
SO I GUESS I'LL HANG AROUND
I COULD NEVER LEAVE MINNESOTA
CAUSE I'M FROZEN TO THE GROUND!!

My Redeemer Lives by Nicole C. Mullen
Who taught the sun where to stand in the morning?
And who told the ocean you can only come this far?
And who showed the moon where to hide till evening?
whose words alone can catch a falling star?
Chorus:
Well I know my redeemer lives
I know my redeemer lives
All of creation testifies
this life within me cries
I know my redeemer lives
ye-e-eah
The very same God
that spins things in orbit
runs to the weary, the worn and the weak
and the same gentle hands that hold me when I'm broken
they conquered death to bring me victory
Now I know, my redeemer lives
I know my redeemer lives
let all creation testify
LEt this life within me cry
I-I-I know
my redeemer
He lives
to take away my shame
and he lives
forever I'll proclaim
that the payment for my sin
was the precious life He gave
but now he's alive and
there's an empty
grave!
And I know
my redeemer lives
He lives
I know
my redeemer lives
let all creation testify
Let this life within me cry
I-I-I know my redeemer
I know
my redeemer lives
I know my redeemer lives
* I know, That I know, that I know, that i know
He lives
*Because of him l I can face tommorow
He lives
*I spoke with him this morning!*
He lives
*The tomb is empty
He lives
*I gotta tell everybody!!*

Alfred Hitchcock presents...
While watching some old Twilight Zone episodes, my son and I talke about famous narrators. My son didn't recognize who Alfred Hitchcock was so I had to go find some youtube segments to educate him. He ended up laughing at this.
Alfred Hitchcock Presents - Cure for insomnia
I found this one later and now I have a certain ditty running in my head. *lol*

Hallelujah Jesus by Monk & Neagle
Keeper of the stars
Lord of time and space
I will live my life
Lifting up Your name
Lover of my heart
God who came to save
Thank You for the cross
And the life You gave
Wonderful, powerful
Jesus is Your name
Hallelujah, Jesus
Hallelujah, Jesus
Hallelujah, Jesus
You are the everlasting God
Author of my life
Friend of sinful man
Holy, mighty God
Ever Great I Am
You’re so wonderful, powerful
Jesus is Your name
Hallelujah, Jesus

Old Rugged Cross by Loretta Lynn
On a hill far away stood an old rugged cross
The emblem of suffering and shame
And I love that old cross where the dearest and best
For a world of lost sinners was slain.
So I'll cherish the old rugged cross
Till my trophies at last I lay down
I will cling to the old rugged cross
And exchange it some day for a crown.
--- Instrumental ---
Oh, that old rugged cross so despised by the world
Is a wonderous attraction for me
For the dear lamb of God left this glory above
To bare it to dark calvary.
So I'll cherish the old rugged cross
Till my trophies at last I lay down
I will cling to the old rugged cross
And exchange it some day for a crown...
