"N" is for...

Nest

Today's photos are of an Eagle's nest. I was about 100 yards away. It was rainy and I didn't want to walk in a wet marsh. I also didn't want to annoy the birds by getting too close. Better zoom is one reason I want an SLR camera. (I'm taking recommendations).

I took these photos last June on the way to my niece's graduation. The eagles migrated during this past winter, which was new for this pair. They have not returned yet. While we have several in this area, I am hoping this pair returns. I've grown fond of watching them over the past several years.

I'm envious of this - seeing an Eagle in the wild is on my list of things I want to see!
Terrific shots - I'm with you - I need a bigger zoom. I have no idea what to buy though.

Taking recommendations, huh? Well I really like my Canon XTi a lot. It's an entry level DSLR. They go up and up from there. The Nikon line is really good also. If you don't have anything, go try different models. See what fits your hand. Look for where buttons are located, what functions are readily available at your fingertips, etc.

Anyhow, regarding your picture, great capture. Sure closer would have been better, but you did great anyhow!

you did well to take these photos. great birds!

as for dslr, once you have the body, you need appropriate lenses as well... and there are different lenses for different purposes and the price of some lenses can exceed that of the body several times

When I was younger I used to canoe every summer up to the last of four lakes to see the eagles and the nest. I love eagles. Thanks for using an N that brought back memories.

Eagles! I saw my first live, flying eagle in Vancouver, B.C. this summer. My camera was broken. You have some really great pics!
