What to blog about???

I'm not sure what I want to blog about today. It's been too long since I posted. Things have been odd lately. I haven't felt up to par. The weather has been pretty typical for fall. The temps have been up and down. One day it's hot the next it's chilly. I actually turned the heat on last night to take the chill out of the air. We finally got a dusting of snow today. It's so purty! It's about 20° out. My son says it's too early to be cold. I will admit the car was pretty chilly when I went to Bible study this evening. Pumping gas was definitely not a fun experience tonight.

Well, today I finished upgrading a laptop. My first such job. I usually work on desktops. I'm not so sure I like working on laptops. The screws are teeny tiny. I think I spent as much time hunting for dropped screws as I did working on the actual laptop. Loading the software wasn't as bad as I expected. Updating Windows took over 3 hours :( I only have to upgrade the RAM and I will be finished. I still have to order that, but my niece is able to use the laptop in the meantime. All the while I was working on it, I told my son "never again!" He kept reminding me that I volunteered to work on it. BRAT has no business reminding me of my own words. *lol* While it was a frustrating experience, I do think I would do it again.

I have more computer work to do this weekend. We are using that as an excuse to have dinner at my sister's house and celebrate Mom's 68th birthday. We don't family gatherings much anymore. It should be interesting.

Plane crash in NYC today. That must have been terrifying for them. I heard about it a few hours later so I didn't have the wait to see what it was about...

Tonight on the way home, I heard an interesting song. It's sung by Bowling For Soup. According to the DJ, this song was written after turning on CNN during an interview. The topic on CNN was about Paris Hilton losing so much weight in the last month or so.

High School Never Ends

Four years you think for sure
That’s all you've got to endure
All the total d*cks
All the stuck up chicks
So superficial, so immature
Then when you graduate
You take a look around and you say HEY WAIT
This is the same as where I just came from
I thought it was over
Aw that’s just great

The whole d*mn world is just as obsessed
With who‘s the best dressed and who‘s having sex,
Who‘s got the money, who gets the honeys,
Who‘s kinda cute and who‘s just a mess
And you still don’t have the right look
And you don’t have the right friends
Nothing changes but the faces, the names, and the trends
High school never ends

Check out the popular kids
You’ll never guess what Jessica did
How did Mary Kate lose all that weight
And Katie had a baby so I guess Tom’s straight
And the only thing that matters
Is climbing up that social ladder
Still care about your hair and the car you drive
Doesn’t matter if you’re sixteen or thirty-five

Reese Witherspoon,
She’s the prom queen
Bill Gates,
Captain of the chess team
Jack Black, the clown
Brad Pitt, the quarterback
I’ve seen it all before
I want my money back

The whole d*mn world is just as obsessed
With who’s the best dressed and who’s having sex,
Who’s in the clubs and who’s on the drugs,
Who’s throwing up before they digest
And you still don’t have the right look
And you don’t have the right friends
And you’re still listen to the same sh*t you did back then
High school never ends

High school never ends

The whole d*mn world is just as obsessed
With who‘s the best dressed and who‘s having sex,
Who‘s got the money, who gets the honeys,
Who‘s kinda cute and who‘s just a mess
And I still don’t have the right look
And I still have the same three friends
And I’m pretty much the same as I was back then
High school never ends

High school never ends

High school never ends

Here we go again

I'm thinking they are right. Some things never change. It's all about sex, money, clothes and popularity.

Speaking of music, my son has been listening to Weird Al Yankovic lately. I had forgotten how funny this guy was with his parodies of popular songs. He's got one that's called "Don't download this song" and another called "Drive Through." I just crack up listening to him. The other day we had my Mom to "Drive Through" on the way to church. I couldn't believe how hard she laughed. The lyrics are here The song is at least 10 minutes long. His website is here. He has a couple of songs that are free for download. I'm kind of shocked that my teenage son likes Weird Al. I mean I listened to Weird Al as a teenager. I'm not going to tell the boy or he'll decided not to listen to him. *lol*

Gotta end with a couple of quotes. The first one is funny because I'm sitting here with a bowl of Chicken Fried Rice in front of me.

I like rice. Rice is great if you're hungry and want 2000 of something.
- Mitch Hedberg

The trouble with jogging is that, by the time you realize you're not in shape for it, it's too far to walk back.
- Franklin P. Jones

All successful newspapers are ceaselessly querulous and bellicose. They never defend anyone or anything if they can help it; if the job is forced on them, they tackle it by denouncing someone or something else.
- HL Mencken

Bare pantry

My son cleaned out our pantry (dry goods) about 10 days or so ago. My son, who is 24, works in Retail/Grocery so he's the king of expira...
